Cicero welcomes President of Juanacatlan, Mexico
Donates Fire Equipment to help Mexican City

Town President Larry Dominick met with Mr. José Pastor Martinez Torres, 36, the President of the municipality of Juanacatlan, Jalisco, Mexico, and presented a large donation of firefighter equipment to help the city.

The equipment includes fire safety jackets, oxygen masks, hats, and other equipment that the Cicero Fire Department has replaced in an upgrade this year. The Town Board in August approved an ordinance that allowed for the donation of the equipment once it was replaced by new equipment purchased by the Town of Cicero.

"We are very pleased to be able to donate this equipment to a community that needs it, like the city of Juanacatlan in Mexico," President Dominick said.

Through an interpretor, President Martinez Torres said he is very grateful for the donation of the equipment which will help strengthen his city's fire department and fire fighting efforts.

President Martinez Torres was elected to the post last year. He was accompanied to meet with President Dominick and Fire Marshal Ron Opalecky on Thursday by Alderman  Rafael Moreno Soriano.

Juanacatlan is located downtown in the central eastern part of the state of Jalisco and the town has 20,000 inhabitants.

President Martinez Torres traveled to the city of Chicago to come and support the Tenth annual dinner - dance that the Club Pro Juanacatlan has been working on, in order to collect funds to benefit various institutions of the municipality this coming Saturday November 23.
